Painting the Moon

Vito is 28 months old.

We have an amazing full moon during Holy Week so I encouraged the boys to the paint the moon.  I can’t believe that it turned out so beautiful and realistic!  The craters are naturally formed and the color combination of paints were fantastic.  The best part about this is that it’s so simple to make!

To start prepare a black cardstock, contact paper, a tray and paints.  Don’t mix the paints!  Pour white paints on a tub, add some black and a little bit of color that your kids want.  Mavi and Vito wanted blue, and Mavi wanted some silver paints as well (Vito doesn’t have the silver paint). 

I cut a circle shape in the contact paper and cover our cardstock with it, this way Vito can freely paint into the cardstock.

I encouraged him to use his hands, but just like some kids… he refuses to use his handsso I made him use a paintbrush instead.   Dab dab dab everywhere in the surface!

Now this is how it turned out. Can you see the white highlights? That is due to the fact that we did not mix the paints.  After the paint dried, I peeled the contact paper gently and adored our very own moon painting!
