Teaching Toddlers How Plants Grow

After our watercress activity, I introduced Vito to the life cycle of a green bean plant using Safari Ltd Life Cycle of a Green Bean Plant and the cards from The Wise Owl Shop. Check out some of the activities that we worked on during the past few days that demonstrate how plants grow to toddlers.

LIFE CYCLE OF A GREEN BEAN PLANT

I've set this up in our shelf for easier access. The learning cards are beautiful! If you are in the Philippines you can get these at The Wise Owl Shop. I chose the book How A Seed Grows from the Let’s Read and Find Out Series (Book Depository). The book is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers! It’s a light read for parents and younger children, plus, it is full of graphic presentation which kids love!

He is used to learning through animal figures, and he’s pretty much amazed with our bean plant life cycle figures. He’s like “Mom, look, a plant!”.

FIELD TRIP TO THE GARDENS

We also visited our park (Marlay Park Walled Gardens) to see the different kinds of plants growing in Ireland. As we walked around, I showed Vito that some plants grow on walls like the vines, others can thrive in a pot and there are some that needs to be planted on the ground.
