Activity Using Our Water Cycle Learning Pack

We finally concluded our Water Cycle Unit (for Mavi) and he had a blast!  It was timely because it rained for the past few days so we spent most of our days outdoors, observing the nature for the process of water cycle.  Now I’m sharing here the materials that we used and the extension activities that we did.

The main book that we used in this study is Down Comes the Rain from Read and Find Out Series (Amazon US) (Book Depository).  All printables: cards and worksheets were all homemade.  Once we’re done with our outdoor activities and experiments, I had Mavi worked on materials that I made for him.  These are vocabulary cards that contains water cycle-related terminologies.  He used this to complete his water cycle booklet, which he needs to construct so I will know which part of the cycle he doesn’t understand.

This is how the raw materials for the booklet looks like.  He would identify the picture and write the description based on what he understood in our discussion.  I also suggest that you do this after the child reads and understands the vocabulary cards to assess his knowledge.

He always requests to color, so I made sure that the images for the activity sheets are blank outline to allow him to color and practise writing.

Another activity is sorting.  I have a set of pictures which he needs to color, cut and glue into the table to identify in which process of the water cycle each of the images belong to.

And the last part is answering the activity sheets.  It’s basically everything about water cycle.  Mavi loved answering these!  Can you see his handwriting?
