Pirates Preschool Math and Literacy Mini Unit

I am so excited to share with your our fun and engaging Pirates Mini Unit!! This learning pack is perfect for preschoolers and kindergarten kids and is suitable for school and homeschool settings.  There are 20 activities included in this pack, aiming to hone the child's vocabulary, phonics, number and letter recognition, counting activities and fine motor skills.

Let's take a look at some of the activities included in the pack.  

Vocabulary Activities

The pack has lots of activities for exploring vocabulary words.  These are POSTER sized ages, but I printed them in card size with settings of 4 pages per sheet.   I used the movable alphabet from here, or you can use magnetic letters for word-formation.

Kids love using sandtray for writing words and letters! I filled our sandtray with colored rice and used this cardholder.  You can use write on the cards (tracing the words) using dry erase markers.

Uppercase and Lowercase Math

You can use magnetic letters or Montessori Movable Alphabet or simply write the lowercase letters on the box.

Letter Formation

Use gems, playdough, golden coins or any manipulatives to form the letters.

Phonics: Rhyming Words

Mark the words that rhyme on the first map.

Phonics: CVC Middle Sound

Sorting the picture according to their middle sound.

Color Pompoms Sorting

This activity is not just for color recognition but a great way to practice hand-eye coordination (fine motor skills).  The pompoms we used are from here, and the tweezers are from Learning Resources.

Gems Patterning

My kids love this patterning activity.  These gems I got for them were of good size and has lots of colors!
