The Nativity and Story Cards

I love retelling the story of the nativity to our kids.  It’s been a yearly tradition that we read so many books of different versions and would even at times watch nativity movies to understand the meaning of Christmas.  This year, with Vito old enough to understand, I added some story cards and activity sheets to go along with our book reading.


The kids’ favourite are the cards.  My eldest, Mavi, loves to sequence these cards according to the events in the story.



My eldest also loves using the activity sheets, especially for coloring.  Here he is using the amazing Ferby pencils by Lyra (highly recommended coloring material!).


Vito, on the other hand, loves to use this as a tool for learning vocabulary words, identifying characters and matching figures.


At times, I would make Vito sequence the cards as I read along the story, but it’s a hit or miss which is just fine. It’s a great practise for reading comprehension, with me describing the event and Vito selecting the correct card for it.
