Artist Study – Pablo Picasso

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

A few months ago, we look into the works of Pablo Picasso. With the Pablo Picasso books we have on hand, we did some practice!

Here, we’re doing Sylvette, the girl with a ponytail :)

Then we tried a cubist portrait.  The Dad is the model here :)

Beginning and Ending Sounds (FREE Worksheets)

Monday, October 15, 2012

Before starting our Montessori Green Series, I gave Mavi some Pink and Blue Language worksheets for assessment.

Well, I was disappointed for he wasn’t challenged at all!  He finished both sets in less than 10 minutes.

Well I might as well think of another way of challenging him.  For now, if interested, here’s a link to my Montessori Pink Series and Montessori Blue Series worksheets.

For ideas on the materials to use for learning how to read you can check this post, Beginning Reading: Language Objects and Activities.

So next week, we’ll do the basic, I’ll give him introductory topics about ASIA:

  • Famous landmarks and historical sites
  • The languages spoken in different countries.
  • Animals that lives in Asia
  • Maps and flags

Then we’ll go in depth with Philippines, China and India.

  • History of each countries (simplified for a 4 yrs old)
  • The languages they use
  • Currencies
  • Lifestyle of the people, Culture
  • Maps and Flags
  • Famous landmarks and the story behind it
  • Foods
  • Stories originated from each countries.  As of now, I only got books from the Philippines, I check the local library if I could find some for China and India.

Lakes and Islands

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

We started looking into landforms.  And this work is very much inspired my The Adventures of Bear.  The landforms cards were downloaded from Montessori Materials and they are for free!

Now to make my landforms, I used plasticine... filled it with water and added the sailboat as seen on the post of Julie.  My son totally loved it! We’ll delve into these land and water forms once he gets a hang of it.  For now he’s busy playing with the water and the boats :)
