Presenting our Montessori Inspired Parts of a Flower Nomenclature Cards and Booklet:

Basically, we have the Parts of a Flower 3 part cards, a booklet for me to read to Vito as we identify the different parts of a flower and a Montessori flower puzzle. Aside from these, we also have activity sheets, book recommendations and actual flowers as our specimen. My cards have 12 parts of a flower, but most probably, I will only introduce a few to Vito and add some more parts as we progress. The scope will really depend on Vito.
Below is a preview of our flower 3 part cards. These are quite big, around 5 x 4 inches with green borders. The parts are highlighted by red color so young kids can easily identify and distinguish them from the rest. Mavi said that he loves these new sets of cards because they’re big and clear and pleasing to the eyes.

Next our Montessori Inspired Parts of a Tree Nomenclature Cards and Definition Booklet:

Similar to the flower materials, we will be using 3 part cards, booklet and Montessori tree puzzle. I reserved this lesson later in springtime or early summer when all the trees are in their greenest. I will try to include examination of different barks as well, if in case we won’t be travelling during summer time. Just like Mavi’s, Vito’s activities will be hands-on and am hoping for good weather so we can do more of these outdoors.
I also have Montessori Inspired Parts of a Plant Nomenclature Cards and Definition Booklet. We don’t have a puzzle for this so I’ll just make a poor man’s version of the puzzle, most probably out of felt sheets or cardstock. I introduced the plant to Mavi first so we’ll see if I can do this with Vito as well. Please note that this is not the order of how I will introduce these to Vito. It will depend on Ireland’s weather!

Our Montessori Inspired Parts of a Leaf Nomenclature Cards and Definition Booklet is also a favourite! And we use it with the Montessori leaf puzzle.

Leaf unit can come later in the year, or maybe late summer or early autumn. Mavi can join us if ever we do this in summer, he’ll love it for sure! And we’ll do the colored stem/flower experiment to demonstrate the uses of the veins. Here’s a closer look at our parts of a leaf learning material:

Lastly, we have the Montessori Inspired Parts of a Bean Seed Nomenclature Cards and Definition Booklet. But I doubt that we’ll be able to have time for this since Vito will start Montessori school in September 2017. We might check this out when he’s a bit older to appreciate it.
