For this activity, lay-out the printed materials in a rug or table and present it to your child. I told Vito that we are learning how to read a thermometer and the measurements are in the “tens”. He read and identified the temperature indicated in the thermometer and marked his answer with a wooden peg (or you can use any type of manipulatives).
He had fun reading the thermometer and was asking me if the temperature reading was hot or cold.
If you would like to try this activity at home or at your center, you can get this from our Outerspace Preschool Mini Unit Pack. This and 9 other outerspace themed activities are included in the pack. To learn more about this material click here or click the image below.
Vito enjoyed this activity so much and I'm thinking of adding more extension work on temperature reading in the future when he gets older. Maybe I'll include negative numbers and sort out hot or cold temperature readings!
