Transportation Activity Trays for Young Toddler - 20 months

Friday, February 18, 2022

Max is obsessed with buses and trucks, and while he's at it, I decided to prepare simple activity trays following the success of our Valentine's Day Trays weeks ago.

Transporation Giant Stamps

Something new! We are trying all sorts of things for arts and crafts, and giant stamping is one of them. I bought these for my two younger kids, and they love stamping on our Ikea craft paper! But instead of using washable stamps, I made them use paint.

I love these giant stamps and wish we could have all of the sets, LOL. These are so easy to use for little ones, and the foam can really print the image clearly.

Materials:  Giant vehicle stamps (US), giant vehicle stamps (UK) , washable stamp pads (US), washable stamp pads (UK)

Objectives:  learning colors, art, vocabulary, sensory play

Transportation Dab and Dot

He loves dabbing activities, so I made him a transportation version. I also made him use our Grapat rainbow mandala blocks for variety at times.

Materials:  Homemade printable material, dot-markers, dot stickers

Objectives: hand-eye coordination, learning colors

Object to Object Matching / and Matching Cards

He is all about matching these days, so I just have to include this in our tray collection!

Materials:  Safari Toob On the Road Vehicles (US), Safari Toob On the Road (UK), FREE matching cards

Objectives: vocabulary, visual discrimination

Picture Pattern

Materials:  Melissa and Doug Beginner Pattern Blocks (US), Melissa and Doug Beginner Pattern Blocks (UK),
Objectives:  learning shapes

Photo Stickers

The last time we tried the stickers, Max didn't like them. Happy that he finally get to appreciate this activity. But he still doesn't like the sticky feel.

Materials:  Real photo stickers (US), Eyelike Truck Stickers (UK)

Objective:  sensory play, vocabulary

Gears

Materials:  Melissa and Doug Rainbow Gears (US),  Melissa and Doug Rainbow Gears (UK)

Objectives:  color matching, learning colors, fine motor skills, cause and effect

Painting Stencils

Materials:  paintbrushes, stencils(US), stencils (UK), A3 cardstock, washable (non-toxic) paint

Objectives: art, learning colors, sensory exploration

Wheels on the Bus Stick Puppets

This is Max's favourite song as of the moment, and the reason why he is currently obsessed with the bus! So I made him some stick puppets similar to the ones I made for Mavi a decade ago to sing along with the song using these materials.

Materials: Homemade stick puppets, Grimm's wooden bus

Objectives: Rhymes, sing-along

Pin this for later!

Pin this for inspiration and future use!
