Valentine's Day Activity Trays for Young Toddlers

Thursday, February 3, 2022

Sharing our Valentine's Day Activity Trays for young toddlers (1.5yrs and older).  Don't forget to PIN this for inspiration and for future reference!

Flower Arrangement

A simple flower arrangement activity using the flowers we have in the kitchen.  I didn't put water in the vase so he won't get distracted (he likes water).   He loved placing the flowers on the vase, but above all, he learned a few new words with this activity: vase, flowers, tulips and pink.

Tray from Ikea.

Valentine's Sensory Bottle

Beware, this is a messy activity so prepare yourself!  Max loves our sensory bottles, so I decided to make a shaker using our red rice and some craft materials.  Its max first time to use a funnel, so he was fascinated by this little material.  More pictures in my IG account!

OBJECTIVES:  fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, introduce color red, vocabulary words (rice, heart, pour etc)

Sweeping

Another messy activity!  He can't control the brush yet so he brushed the rice everywhere, good thing we have vacuum :D    You can get this brush from here.

OBJECTIVE:  fine motor skills,

Posting Buttons

These cute jumbo buttons are from Amazon.  A classic activity of posting using an old Grimm's box... a great way to practice hand-eye coordination.

OBJECTIVES:  hand-eye coordination, introducing shapes and colors

Flower Object to Object/Object to Abstract Matching

Max loves this activity!  Currently we are just using the object-object matching (no cards yet).  I made use of our two sets of Safari Toobs Flower figures for this activity and homemade matching cards which you can download for free here.

OBJECTIVES:  vocabulary words (flowers), visual discrimination

Heart and Dot Markers

I'm absolutely delighted that Max loves this as well!  Another activity for hand-eye coordination and refining fine motor skills.  I'm using this and this markers.

OBJECTIVES:  introduce the heart shape, introduce color red, hand-eye coordination

Color Grade Matching

A challenging activity for Max, and probably his least favourite activity tray.  We worked on this once and he didn't asked for this again.  A friend gave this to  me ages ago.

OBJECTIVES:  visual discrimination, color matching, color grading

Finger Painting

Max was hesitant to touch the paint at first but then I showed him how to cover the heart with the red paint using his hands.  After a few complaints, he got used to it and enjoyed the slimy feel of the paint.

OBJECTIVES:  introduce the heart shape, introduce color red, sensory activity

Transferring Heart Counters using Spoon (Pouring)

His MOST favourite activity!  I used heart counters which I purchase from Amazon ages ago, then the spoon is from Ulanik (Amazon) and the cute bowls are from Amazon too.

OBJECTIVE:  fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, spooning

Have you tried any of these activities?

Don't forget to pin this for later!
