Sneak Peak: Circulatory System Learning Materials

I finally completed our printable learning materials for the heart and the circulatory system.  I’ve been creating booklets and cards for the past few days and I am so happy of the outcome!

The three files will be published in my Pinay Homeschooler Sellfy Shop this FRIDAY. 

First file is all about the human heart.  I placed the printed material in a red cardstock to add borders and for the booklet I used  binder rings to compile the pages.

The booklet will be very useful in describing each parts. 

Second file is the cardiovascular system of the human body. 

And the last one is a file containing all poster-typed diagrams and flowcharts of the elements that compose the Circulatory System, and of course this file also includes activity sheets!

Continent Study of South America

South America Continent Maps and Flags

Whenever we worked a geography lesson at home(for elementary only!), I always start with maps and flags because I wanted him to know the location and flags of certain cities from that continent.  We travel a lot, crossing countries and continents almost every year and so knowing all these will be useful. The Montessori Continent Puzzle that we are using is from Tower High Learning.

Color Recognition Activities and Learn & Play Link Up

1.  Literature based learning

A few weeks before we went on a vacation, Vito was enjoying the book Put Me in the Zoo.  He learned a few words from this book and the best part is he started loving colors!  And because of this, I set up a few color recognition activities to go with the book, while he’s still at it

First, we created spots!  We used dotted stickers and Do-a-dot markers.  At the start of the activity, Vito had a difficulty working with stickers.  He struggled removing them on its paper sheet thus he couldn’t work on it independently.

We love our Do-a-dot Markers and we are using it in so many ways.  I have these markers since 2011!

Still with stickers and markers, we worked on color matching.  Here, Vito is practicing how to match the stickers with the colors created by the markers.

2.  Color Mixing

This is Vito’s first science experiment   I poured some  blue and yellow paints on a ziploc, placed it on the wall for him to mix and see the effect.  And yes we do get a green color! 

We enjoyed mixing the paints and inserted some shape lessons as well

3.  Color Sorting

This was just a random activity, I have a few popsicle sticks and used it for color sorting.  It was more of a presentation on my side (showing Vito how to sort)  rather than Vito working. 

We worked a few more stickers and I was surprised that he learned how to do it on his own.  He’s able to remove the stickers from its sheet and can successfully stick them on a paper.

This is the end product of Vito’s work.

4.  Finger painting

And lastly, another color mixing activity using some cotton buds.  As we do this, I would mention that blue and red makes purple, or red and yellow makes orange.

And of course, eventually he wanted to use his fingers!  I love love using our Giotto fingerpaints, they’re derma-safe (my kids have skin asthma and allergies!), no strong scents and most of all so creamy that Vito loves touching them.

Static Addition with Montessori Stamp Game

When Mavi was about 5 years old, I introduced some complex mathematics using Montessori materials.  One of which is using the Stamp Game.  It is a Montessori math material that uses number tiles, in which the tiles are color coded to represent the units, tens, hundreds and thousands.

Note that prior to introducing addition, we have worked with the decimal system already using the Golden Beads.

Collection of Practical Life Activities for Toddlers (21 Months)

Last week I shared the learning activities that I prepared on Vito’s shelf.  Learning activities are usually done in the morning, after reading books.  It would about 15 to 30 minutes of play, depending on his interest.  Practical life activities are done in the afternoon, after se pick up big brother from school.  All our practical life materials are stored in kitchen, stored in the shelf but I can’t share it because it is a sight to behold.

So for this month, here are the practical life activities Vito is working on.  These are rotated once in a while.

Stringing 

Scooping (hands) & Pouring Corn Kernels 

Shape Stamping & Wiping Afterwards 

Shape Sorting 

Using a Columns

Button Slots

Using left and right hand

Spooning 

He loves touching the kernels!

Look at the chubby hand.
