Vito and I worked on a brief Chinese New Year Unit last week. The resources we used were from the Chinese New Year Mini Preschool Learning Pack I created for him from years ago.
Chinese New Year Themed 3 Part Cards
These 3 part cards are mainly used for visual discrimination, learning of vocabulary words, and practice reading. Now that Vito can read, we are using the label cards and I love how he works on blending the sounds to read and match them!Chinese New Year Themed Beginning Letter Clipcards
These cards are used in learning phonics by identifying the beginning letter sounds of some Chinese icons and symbols (Chinese New Year).Chinese Paper Lantern Color Matching
This is a fun color matching activity using our pompoms! You can also use stickers, do-a-dot markers, or glass gems (or any available manipulatives).Picture Dough Mats for Fine Motor Skills
My Vito loves playdough and the mats which I always include in our preschool packs are something that he always looks forward to. This is a great activity for little hands, for strengthening hand muscles, and of course for sensorial too!Chinese Lantern Shapes Spin and Cover
This is a shape recognition activity with a spinner. Spin, identify the shape, and cover the matching lantern shape with any type of manipulatives. For the spinner, use a pin or pencil and a paper clip.Chinese Money Envelop Counting Clipcards
Count the number of gold coins in the Chinese money envelope and mark the correct number symbol. Vito enjoyed this activity a lot as he loves counting!Chinese New Year Activity Book
This simple activity book contains basic information and lots of pictures about the Chinese New Year. It is perfect for parents to read with their child (for reference) and activity sheets are also included for coloring and writing practice. All of these and more are all in one pack of this Chinese New Year learning unit!!! Hope that you and your students will enjoy learning about this colorful yearly Chinese tradition!
