This book is not just about the penguins, it talks about the food chain and the cycle of life in Antarctica. From the penguins, to icebergs, to walruses and how these animals and the environment are interconnected. Lovely, lyrical book.
ABOUT THE POLAR REGIONS.
Another lovely book about the animals in the polar regions. I love the illustrations in this book and there are only a few texts, focusing more on what is illustrated rather than having too much to discuss.
ANTARCTICA.
Our first collection of Antarctica book from Usborne. I love that it contains real images (some are illustrations) and lots of information about the continent. I highly recommend this for older children (5 years and older).
PENGUINS MY FIRST DISCOVERY BOOKS.
A simple yet engaging book about penguins in Antarctica. We love the illustrations! Contains lots of helpful information about the lives and survival of the penguins that thrive in the coldest part of the world. Plus, the transparent pages definitely draws the interest of my 4 year old!
HERE IS THE ARCTIC WINTER.
This book perfectly depicts the life in the arctic region: always dark. So yes, the pages show animals in the dark, what they do to survive during the dark winter days in the arctic. Just like in Here is Antarctica, the book presents the food chain and the cycle of life in the arctic. This is the reason why I got both books so that the boys and I can differentiate or relate the habitats in both polar regions.
OVER IN THE ARCTIC.
I love this book! It’s about animals in the arctic and their babies and what they like to do. Vito and I would mimic the animals’ sound and actions as we read through the book. And I just discovered that we can actually sing the book to the tune of “Over in the Meadow”.
