Anyway, I want to expose my kids to the religious tradition and practices that we observed back in my country home. We've done lots of religious works for the past years. You can read about it here and here. This year, I wanted to focus on Jesus, the many miracles he made and how he has touched the people's lives. In this post, though, I'm highlighting how we worked on the last days of Jesus that led to his death.
We started by reading the Bible and retelling it using our Sequencing Cards. The cards contain illustrations of the key event from the last days of Jesus and a brief description of the picture. You can either expand this story in your own word or have your child read it.
Be ready for gazillions of questions from your child.
Next is working on the colouring pages. The colouring pages are from the events in the story. Kids love to colour, which is a great way to practice their hand muscles and put their artistry into action. I printed the colouring sheets and made Vito pick the event/s he wanted to colour. You can then ask your child why he picked that and what does it mean to him.
The last part was the retelling of the story by sequencing the cards. Using his own words (or he can read the description). We use these cardholders from Lakeshore Learning to easily see the order of the cards and tell the story.
