Max was obsessed with these tubs at 13 months, the reason why I didn't provide him with so many toys and materials around this age.

Tuesday, January 3, 2017

I kept so many spices in our kitchen that I decided to make smelling bottles for the boys.  I can’t believe that it is so easy to make!  Read through the blog and learn where you can purchase the Montessori smelling bottles and materials for the DIY.

Letter L: Leaf Activities in Autumn

Tuesday, October 6, 2015

We are joining the bandwagon of autumn-themed activities and for Vito, we’re having leaf activities!

Leaf Color Matching

Got these beautiful craft leaves from a local store and used them for sorting colors.  I just dumped them in a container and would take one leaf at a time. I then mention the color and placed it to where it belongs.  Vito loves calling out their names!  I am not sure if he could recognize colors yet, it’s a hit or miss for him.  It’s a challenge to put up a color sorting activity for him so I put an extra effort on making it fun like making noises or funny sounds as I drop the leaf to the sorted group.

DIY Letter Puzzle

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

Here’s how I made our alphabet puzzle when we’re still in Serbia.  Using Melissa and Doug Magnetic Letters, I traced the pieces into a cardstock using a Sharpie.

And there you have it! An instant, so easy to prepare letter puzzle! Mavi looooves it to pieces! He plays with it every single day.

I believe you can do this to any other magnetic letters.  So go ahead make your own!

DIY Animal Puzzle

Monday, June 1, 2015

I used to have these bundles of colouring books from friends.  Once Mavi is done colouring them, my tendency is to put the books away or practically speaking, throw them in the trash.  Yes, I don't keep those as we don't have enough storage space in the house.

But one time, I came across Montessori wooden puzzles that I really really want Mavi to have. My problem at that time is that I don't have access to Montessori shops. So what I did was I cut out each parts of the animal puzzle in the book as seen on the picture below, and made Mavi form it just like a puzzle.

Frog Puzzle

It was actually a brilliant idea! Not only did he enjoy working it, I was able to make use of all the colouring book's pages for an educational activity!

Instead of just putting them together, I made him glue them on an outline which I made as a guide.

No need to buy puzzles!
