The Alphabet Sound Books for Learning Letters

Monday, October 23, 2017

I am so excited to share our Alphabet Sound Books!  Vito is currently in a sensitive period for letters and I knew I just have to provide him with these booklets which I also made for Mavi years ago when he was learning his letters.

Alphabet Sound Books for Learning Letters
What are these Alphabet Sound Books?

These are books with pictures on each page that begins with the corresponding letter sound.  Each book has 7 pictures, realistic enough for the child to easily identify.

How to Use the Alphabet Sound Books?

Each letter has 5 different types of books which you can use according to your child’s age.

Alphabet Letter Sound Books and Activity Sheets
  • The first book contains COLORED pictures only but NO LABELS.  This way, the child will not be distracted and be “forced” to focus more on the image and the familiarization of the letter sound.  So when you “read” this book to your child, emphasize the beginning sound of the picture.
  • The second book is COLORED and WITH LABELS.  This is intended for those children who are young readers and need to explore the vocabulary words.
  • The third book is OUTLINE and with NO LABELS.  It serves the same purpose with the first book but this is intended for families who are saving on ink and wanted to color the pictures instead.
  • The fourth book is OUTLINE and WITH LABELS.  Another ink saver booklet but with labels.  You can use crayons or this FERBY Colored Pencils that we love to use for tracing and coloring.  I highly recommend these because my kids love their coloring effect and are easy to grip!
  • ACTIVITY PAGES.  These are tracing and coloring versions of the book.  My son loves assembling his own book and enjoys coloring the pages!

How to assemble the books?

You can assemble this in anyway you want!  In our case, after printing, I cut the pages in the middle (horizontal) so they can form strips as shown below.

How to assemble the books: Step 1
Then I staple the pages in the middle with the title page facing up.

How to assemble the books: Step 2
It will look like this.

Then fold along the line to form the booklet. So easy!

How to assemble the books: Step 3
These are the coloring and activity pages.  If you are following me on Instagram, I posted a lot of pictures of Vito assembling these books.

Just so you know, this is my version of Mavi’s booklet a long time ago.

Mavi's Old Alphabet Booklets
These books and the activity sheets has been a great tool in learning letters and new vocabulary words for Vito and it keeps his interest for a long time especially that he enjoys assembling his own book.  He’s always excited to show his books to Mavi everytime we create one.  You can get these books from here or click the image below. Enjoy!
