Aside from The Bible, do you have favourite books to read with kids that tells about Jesus (if you are a Christian) and Godly stories?

DSC_0026

I rummaged through our book collections and found these.  So I put them in our sitting room basket so we can read them during rest time.  These are really good books and these are from the list of Five in a Row.  Have you read them yet?

Here’s what the GoodReads tell about each book:

THE CLOWN OF GOD (aff link)

In this retelling of the old French legend, a juggler offers to the Christ Child the only Christmas gift he has. “The full-color pictures with subtle tonal modulations are an integral part of the design of the lumious pages full of movement and vitality. The Italianate aspects of the setting are beautifully realized.”--The Horn Book

I cried buckets after reading this book!  It’s not just for the children, but for adults as well that will remind us that glory and success in life is passing.  That what we should offer to God are the things that comes from the heart, purity, honestly and sincerity. You must own this book, it gives me the chills!

PRAYER FOR A CHILD (aff link)

A prayer full of the intimate gentleness for familiar things, the love of friends and family, and the kindly protection of God. Though it was written for one little girl, the prayer is for all boys and girls, and it carries a universal appeal for all ages and races.

A beautiful prayer, reminds me of the innocence of a child. I advised Mavi to use this prayer every day.

IF JESUS CAME TO MY HOUSE  (aff link)

A little boy imagines what it would be like if Jesus came to spend the afternoon with him -- the little boy Jesus, of course, "about the age that I am and about the size of me."

It is easy to see why this friendly little book, originally published in England, has already sold 19 editions. It offers the Golden Rule in concepts easily grasped by small children and indirectly suggests some ways to carry them out.

Aside from The Clown of God, this is also my favourite.  A lovely book which I read years ago during primary years in school.  The book teaches us that you can serve Jesus by being good to your friends, neighbor and stranger.

THE LITTLE RABBIT  (aff link)

Full-color photographs. "The warm, cuddly world of a real rabbit family is introduced to young readers in enchanting photographs."--Children's Books of the Year, Child Study Assn.

Not much of a “religious” book but Vito loves this! He loves looking at the picture, a pretty good book for introducing Easter (bunnies!).

What about you? Do you have any good books to share?
