Valentine's Day Activity Trays for 5 Years Old

Thursday, February 6, 2025

Hello! I'm back, friends! There’s so much to blog about and discuss regarding homeschooling and the educational activities we've been involved in over the past few months. However, I’m currently feeling a bit overwhelmed with things at home. I did want to take a moment to share some activities I prepared for Max this Valentine's Day. As he gets older, I find that we can tackle more challenging activities while still sticking to the themes he enjoys.

TOP TRAYS:

  • Max enjoys spinning and building Valentine's Day pattern blocks; he really loves this activity!
  • We also trace lines using manipulatives or marker pens, and the printable comes from a Valentine's Day Mini Unit.
  • Additionally, we create shapes using geosticks, which offer a hands-on opportunity for Max to construct shapes instead of just matching them.

MIDDLE TRAYS:

  • Counting clip cards from 1 to 10, part of the Valentine's Day Mini Unit.
  • We will use color sorting activities to enhance fine motor skills; the materials can be purchased here.
  • We have beginning sound mats with a Valentine's Day theme available in my shop. I collected several miniatures from our toob collections and toys for Max to sort based on their beginning sounds. We also did a similar activity for Winter.

BOTTOM TRAYS:

  • Pin poking magic! It’s his first experience, so let's discover if he’ll fall in love with it.
  • We’re diving into counting mats with a vibrant rainbow mandala set from Grapat, complemented by a printable from our Valentine's Day Counting Gumball Mats.
  • And we're creating a charming chocolate box for our Valentine's Day craft this year! This is part of our  Valentine's Day Craft set.

Valentine's Day Letter and Number Cards

Friday, February 8, 2019

What I like about homeschooling is being able to make themed materials for my kids that will go along with certain seasons or holidays.  Because Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I made these beautiful and cute teddy and heart letter and number cards perfect for home and school settings.  We use these types of learning cards in so many ways, and I have listed a few of those activities below for your reference.  Enjoy!

Valentines Day Spin and Build Building Blocks

Thursday, February 7, 2019

We love our building blocks printables! They're so engaging that even my eldest is playing along with us.  I mean, who doesn't like these LEGO blocks or bricks?  We have collected a bunch of LEGOs and other LEGO compatible blocks through the years and they have come into full use once again. And Vito is totally into it.

Hands-On Learning on Common Flowers

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Valentine's Day season is always the time wherein the boys and I would talk about flowers.  Not just because it is Valentine's Day, but because this is basically the time wherein we get to see spring flowers starting to bloom out from their buds.  We see them everywhere, in the backyard and front lawn, parks and of course in our neighbours’ houses.  My knowledge of flowers is very limited; I only knew of some tropical flowers from my country and Asian countries.  Of course, there’s always the rose, tulip and orchids… but no, I haven’t heard of daffodils, crocus and poppies not until I stepped foot in Europe.

Learning Activities for 27 Months Toddler

Saturday, February 13, 2016

Vito is 27 months old.

These are the activities I prepared for Vito this month.  Sort of a Valentines Day Unit as well, I combined the hearts and flower activities in this month’s activities.  Vito is doing well so far in all of these activities, especially in counting and all those related to fine motor skills.

Best Arts & Crafts for Kids and {Learn & Play Link Up}

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Years ago, Mavi would do a lot of artist study.  One of my favorites is our Van Gogh project, The Sunflower.  It was one of those rare moment wherein both Mavi and I were in depth with our subject and were absorbed by the beauty of painting.  But it was just more than artwork. We studied the life of Van Gogh, and how his life reflected in his work.  (click the image below for more details)

Now thinking about it, I picked the best art projects and crafts in our link up this week.  Here are the featured post:
