Dental Unit - Tooth Fairy Preschool Mini Unit Centers

February is National Children's Dental Health Month, and so I would like to introduce to you our super fun dental unit designed for preschoolers and kindergartens! Here’s an activity that your kids will absolute enjoy playing!  Christmas Pattern Blocks Spin and Build, where you integrate math (shapes) to Christmas symbols and icons.  This a shape pattern blocks activity with a twist!  Using the mats, you spin the spinner for the shapes that you will be using to form the puzzle.

Autumn Life Cycle Studies

Directed Drawing Activity Pack - Seasons

Heard of directed drawings?  These are instructional materials that provide step-by-step instruction (through illustrations) on how to draw an object.  I started making these last year in my shop because Vito enjoys this activity.  He was frustrated that he doesn't know how to draw, so I made him a few of these, and he loved it! He gained confidence in drawing, and with practice, he can now draw some objects on his own.    Anyway, I'd like to introduce our Seasons Themed Directed Drawing Pack.  Below you will find previews and ideas on how we use these at home (and, of course, can be used in schools too!).

Art History - Medieval Art

For Medieval Art, we made illuminated manuscript.  This art project was inspired by the Book of Kells (Ireland), a famous artefact on display in Dublin. Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript Gospel book in Latin created around 800AD.

Beautiful Children's Biography Books

I lately discovered a beautiful biography picture book series that captured the interest of my 7 years old.  This is by far our favourite, the GENIUS series by Isabel Munoz. I am not a big fan of the Little People (too short and less info for my kids’ taste) so I continued looking for kid-friendly bio books and I came across this series.

Art History - Ancient Art

Cave paintings are the focus of our Ancient Art studies.  We begin by reading books (see the list below), looking up some real cave paintings images worldwide, and working on a simple wall art project.

Around 4 to 6 months, when the baby can manipulate objects, it's a perfect time to give her all kinds of noise-making materials, including rattles, shakers and music boxes. As your child gets older, you can provide baby drums, a xylophone or even a lightweight metal cooking pot and spoon will do!  Encourage your little ones to experiment with sounds by banging two objects together.  These sounds may get in your nerves, but these early musical experiences teach the baby the laws of cause and effect and, at the same time, learning about rhythm.
